Kickstart your Japanese Working Holiday with language, culture, and job support– all in one place!
This program runs monthly and provides participants with 5 weeks of accommodations, 4 weeks of intensive beginners Japanese language courses, and great assistance to help participants set up bank accounts, tax numbers, SIM cards, and registering with the health authority. After completing the language courses, you’ll be supported in finding a job– or the team can line up interviews in areas like agriculture, hospitality, ski resorts, Ryokans, or teaching assistants. Once hired, you’ll be assisted with transportation to your placement and your adventure continues!
Through this program, you’ll earn yen, make new tomodachi (friends!), and have the opportunity to explore everything from temples to takoyaki– all while living like a local. A working holiday in Japan lets you live the adventure, not just visit it!
Minimum Japanese language requirements may apply.
- Provisions of general preparation materials about working holiday in Tokyo and Kyoto, including texts and videos in an easy to use responsive online interface
- Arrangement of accommodation
- Program participants can choose between one of two program start locations: Kyoto or Tokyo. In case of Tokyo: meet and greet at Narita or Haneda airport and transfer by public transportat (shuttle bus and/or train) to the sharehouse accommodations (ticket costs included) in the Tokyo metropolitan area. In case of Kyoto: Meet and greet at Kansai or Itami airport and transfer by public transport (shuttle bus and /or train) to the sharehouse accommodation (ticket costs included).
- Zoom group live preparation and Q&A session
- Check and confirmation of Working Holiday Visa Application documents
- Accompanying participants to city/ward office for residence registration, tax number registration, pension funds, health system, opening bank account, and SIM card registration (SIM card costs and airtime are not included in the package)
- Support at walk-in office in Tokyo during office working hours (Mon-Fri) and via phone, email, LINE, WhatsApp during full year in Japan concerning living, working, travelling, etc. in Japan
- Assistance with finding a job included: Group Job Counselling session (90-120 min) at office, Individual preparation of participant’s resume for Japanese job market and translation to Japanese, accompany participant to appointment at Employment Centre or 1-on-1 job search support session (90 minutes), provision of job vacancies from various sources, Use of office printer and PC at the office in Tokyo and Kyoto
- Monthly social meetup event (Tokyo and Kyoto) and cultural workshops (small extra costs may apply)
- Monthly online tandem language exchange session (accessible prior to travelling to Japan)
- Once per month on-site language exchange (Tokyo or Kyoto)
- Free luggage storage at office in Tokyo and Kyoto

Not included in program cost:
- Travel expenses incurred for visit to Application Centre. The Working Holiday Visa is offered at no cost to Canadian citizens as per the Youth Mobility agreement with Japan.

- Between the ages of 18-30
- No criminal record
- Be of good physical and mental health
- Must provide a letter of good health from your general practitioner
- Hold a valid comprehensive travel insurance policy for the entire duration of stay in Japan
- Must apply for working holiday authorization in person or by mail at a designated VFS center (cannot apply more than 3 months in advance to planned departure, but no less than 4 weeks prior to planned departure)
- Minimum requirements of the command of the Japanese language may apply
